Best Louis Vuitton Perfumes in Oman
Article Summary: Louis Vuitton has no boutique in Oman, sells its perfume nowhere except its own boutiques and website, and prices the plainest bottle in the line at the equivalent of about OMR 150. One man, Jacques Cavallier Belletrud, has composed every fragrance the house has released since it came back to perfume in 2016. The ten below are the Louis Vuitton fragrances MOJ interprets in Oman, from Ombre Nomade to Pur Oud, with the house's own published materials for each, the year and the facts that can be verified, and MOJ versions from OMR 2.500.
- Louis Vuitton's own store locator lists Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE, and not Oman. The nearest counter is Dubai, and the house ships online only to the UAE.
- Every fragrance here is by Cavallier Belletrud, the house's master perfumer since 2012, who works from Les Fontaines Parfumees in Grasse.
- Official UAE prices are AED 1,440 for 100 ml across the classic line, AED 1,820 for Ombre Nomade and AED 7,800 for Pur Oud, unchanged since August.
- Pur Oud is Assam oud at ten per cent against little else, which is why the original costs about 75 bottles of ours.
- MOJ versions in Oman run from OMR 2.500 to 21.000, nine of the ten available in all three sizes.

Who makes Louis Vuitton perfume
Louis Vuitton makes it itself, inside LVMH, and that is rarer than it sounds. Most fashion houses license their name to a beauty group and let the group's perfumers do the work. Vuitton, which had sold a handful of scents in the 1920s and 1940s and then nothing for roughly seventy years, hired Jacques Cavallier Belletrud in 2012, bought him a house in Grasse called Les Fontaines Parfumees, and gave him four years before the first bottle. He is Grasse-born, the son and grandson of perfumers, and before Vuitton he had written L'Eau d'Issey for Issey Miyake and Classique for Jean Paul Gaultier, two of the biggest fragrances of the 1990s. The house calls him master perfumer and names him on every product page, which is also rare: most designer houses do not tell you who composed what.
The return came in September 2016 with seven fragrances for women, Rose des Vents and Matiere Noire among them. The men's line followed in 2018 with Orage, Nouveau Monde and three others; the colognes, lighter and unisex, began with Afternoon Swim in 2019 and continued to Pacific Chill in 2023; Ombre Nomade in 2018 and Pur Oud in 2021 are the two built for the Gulf. Imagination, from 2021, is the men's fragrance the house now leads with. Ten years in, every one of them still carries the same signature on the box.
Is there a Louis Vuitton store in Oman?
No, and that question is searched in Oman more than any single Louis Vuitton fragrance. The house's own Middle East store locator lists Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Jordan, Lebanon and Morocco, and Oman is not on it; the luxury directory at Mall of Oman lists Amouage and others and no Vuitton. A few travel blogs claim a Vuitton store in Muscat, and they are wrong or out of date. It matters for perfume more than for bags, because Vuitton sells its fragrances only in its own boutiques and on its own website: no Sephora, no mall perfumery, no airport counter. The website ships to the UAE and not to Oman. So an Omani buyer has three honest routes to the original: a trip to Dubai Mall, a friend's suitcase, or a grey-market listing whose provenance nobody can vouch for.
That is the gap this guide and our versions sit in. We are not the original, and we say so on every bottle; we are the way to find out whether you like the style of Ombre Nomade before committing the price of a flight to Dubai plus the bottle to find out.
The ten, with the MOJ versions
1. Ombre Nomade A
The fragrance that made Louis Vuitton serious in this part of the world. Ombre Nomade launched in 2018 as a dense, resinous oud, and the house's own page names oud, benzoin, incense and raspberry, the last of which is the surprise that keeps it from being just another western oud. It is priced above the rest of the line, AED 1,820 for 100 ml in the UAE against AED 1,440 for most of its siblings, and it is the Vuitton that oud wearers here actually respect. Our Ombre Nomade A adds saffron and birch to the opening and rose and geranium to the heart, which is the common reading of it, and it is the one we would hand to a man who already owns real oud and wants something for Eid that reads expensive without being traditional. All three sizes are available.
Top: Raspberry, saffron, birch
Heart: Oud, rose, geranium, incense
Base: Benzoin, agarwood, amber, woody notes
2. Imagination
The modern face of the men's line and the fragrance the house pushes hardest. Imagination launched in 2021 on citron, Calabrian bergamot and orange, then Tunisian neroli, ginger and cinnamon, over Chinese black tea, a generous dose of Ambrox, guaiac wood and olibanum, all of it on Vuitton's own page. The black tea is what makes it; without it this would be another clean citrus amber. Our Imagination follows the tea and Ambrox spine with saffron and nutmeg in the heart, and it is the only Louis Vuitton interpretation we sell in a 200 ml bottle, because it is the one people finish. We also carry a lighter, cheaper reading of the same direction called Imager, with cardamom and pink pepper in place of the spices, at OMR 4.300; if the price of Imagination gives you pause, start there. All four sizes of Imagination are available.
Top: Calabrian bergamot, citron, ginger
Heart: Black tea, saffron, nutmeg
Base: Ambrox, guaiac wood, patchouli, musk
3. Pur Oud
The most expensive fragrance Louis Vuitton sells and the simplest. Pur Oud, from 2021, is Assam oud in what the house calls an immoderate dose of ten per cent, selected by Cavallier Belletrud himself, against white musks and very little else. It costs AED 7,800 for 100 ml in the UAE, which is not a misprint, and which works out at roughly OMR 817 for a bottle. The original is deliberately austere, closer to the oud oil an Omani grandfather would recognise than to a designer perfume. Our Pur Oud is fuller: saffron and cypress open it, rose, patchouli and incense sit round the oud, and sandalwood, leather and amber close it, which makes it easier to wear and further from the original's starkness. All three sizes are available, and the price difference is the largest in this guide.
Top: Saffron, cypress, bergamot
Heart: Oud, rose, patchouli, incense
Base: Sandalwood, leather, amber, musk
4. Nuovo Mondo
Oud with dessert. Nouveau Monde came with the first men's collection in 2018 and pairs Assam oud with raw cocoa and saffron, the three materials the house itself names, into something darker than Imagination and warmer than Ombre Nomade. It was an oud gourmand before the phrase was fashionable in the Gulf, and it is the Vuitton most often underestimated from a blotter, because the cocoa needs skin. Our Nuovo Mondo keeps the saffron and cocoa opening, adds rose and cinnamon to the oud heart, and finishes on sandalwood, vanilla, tonka and amber, sweeter than the original. For cooler nights, weddings and anyone who finds plain oud too severe. All three sizes are available.
Top: Saffron, cocoa, bergamot
Heart: Oud, rose, cinnamon
Base: Sandalwood, vanilla, amber, tonka bean
5. Matierre Noire
The dark one for women. Matiere Noire was among the seven fragrances that brought the house back in September 2016, and it is Laotian oud shadowed by blackcurrant, narcissus and sambac jasmine, a floral that wears like silk rather than smoke. It is the Vuitton for the woman who does not want to smell sweet, and in Oman it reads as evening and winter: abayas, formal dinners, weddings after dark. Our Matierre Noire, spelled with two r's on our shelf, opens on blackcurrant and plum, keeps the narcissus and jasmine heart with ylang ylang, and grounds it on oud, patchouli, sandalwood and musk. All three sizes are available.
Top: Blackcurrant, plum, bergamot
Heart: Narcissus, ylang ylang, jasmine
Base: Oud, patchouli, sandalwood, musk
6. Orage
The collector's pick. Orage, French for storm, came with the 2018 men's line and is built on iris and patchouli over bergamot and vetiver, the four materials the house names; it is the Vuitton that people who wear a lot of fragrance tend to call the most underrated, because it is formal without effort and never sweet. In Oman it is an office and evening scent for cooler months, and it suits a man whose wardrobe leans toward tailoring. Our Orage opens on black pepper, bergamot and lavender, goes green through cypress, geranium and nutmeg, and lands on patchouli, cedar, vetiver and amber, which is drier and more peppery than the original's iris. All three sizes are available and it is the cheapest of the men's trio here.
Top: Black pepper, bergamot, lavender
Heart: Cypress, geranium, nutmeg
Base: Patchouli, cedar, vetiver, amber
7. Afternoon Swim
The first of the colognes, from 2019, with a bottle sleeve by the Los Angeles artist Alex Israel: mandarin, orange and bergamot over ginger and ambergris, the five materials the house lists, and nothing to get in the way of them. Vuitton labels it a cologne perfume rather than an eau de parfum, and it is the one Louis Vuitton built for exactly the weather Muscat has from May to September. Our Afternoon Swim keeps the Sicilian orange, mandarin and bergamot opening, adds neroli and an aquatic accord to the ginger, and finishes on ambrette, cedar and white musk. It is the cheapest entry in this guide and the easiest to give as a gift. All three sizes are available. We also sell a scent called Swimming Pool, aldehydes and sea salt over mint and marine notes; it is sometimes shelved beside this one, but it matches no Louis Vuitton fragrance and we do not present it as one.
Top: Sicilian orange, mandarin, bergamot
Heart: Ginger, neroli, aquatic accord
Base: Ambrette, cedar, white musk
8. Pacific Chill
The newest original here and the oddest. Pacific Chill, from 2023, is the cologne collection's wellness chapter, described in the press at launch as a detox juice in a bottle: blackcurrant, citron and carrot seed, with basil and apricot, materials that read strangely on paper and work on skin. Our Pacific Chill takes the citrus and blackcurrant opening, builds the heart on mint, basil and green tea, and dries down on cypress, cedar and musk, so it is greener and more herbal than the original's fruit. It is a daytime, weekend, before-the-gym scent for the hot months, and the one in this guide for people bored of ordinary citrus. All three sizes are available.
Top: Lemon, mandarin, blackcurrant
Heart: Mint, basil, green tea
Base: Cypress, musk, cedar
9. Rose des Vents
The women's gateway. Rose des Vents, the compass rose, was in the 2016 launch set and is Grasse centifolia rose lifted by iris, kept clean and luminous; the house's current page adds osmanthus where the 2016 copy had cedar, and we print only what both agree on. A decade on it is still the Vuitton a woman tries first, and in Oman it is a daytime and wedding-season scent that stays composed in heat because the rose is dewy rather than jammy. Our Rose des Vents opens on bergamot, pear and pink pepper, pours out centifolia and damask rose with iris, and settles on cedar, sandalwood, musk and amber. Only the 30 ml is available at the moment, which is the size to start with anyway.
Top: Bergamot, pear, pink pepper
Heart: Centifolia rose, damask rose, iris
Base: Cedar, sandalwood, musk, amber
10. Spell On You
The romantic one. Spell On You launched in September 2021 with Lea Seydoux in the campaign, and the house names three materials: iris pallida from Florence, centifolia rose from Grasse and sambac jasmine, with powdery and magnetic as the words it uses for the effect. It is the Vuitton for date nights rather than desks. Our Spell On You is fruitier up top, with mandarin, bergamot and pear, keeps the sambac jasmine and iris in the heart with magnolia, and adds vanilla, sandalwood and white musk underneath, which makes it sweeter than the original and better suited to warm Omani evenings after sunset. All three sizes are available.
Top: Mandarin, bergamot, pear
Heart: Jasmine sambac, magnolia, iris
Base: Vanilla, sandalwood, white musk
What the originals cost
There is no Omani rial price for a Louis Vuitton fragrance, because the house does not sell in Oman. The reference is its official UAE site, which is where an Omani buyer would be served: AED 1,440 for 100 ml and AED 2,050 for 200 ml across the classic line, Imagination, Orage, Nouveau Monde, Matiere Noire, Rose des Vents, Spell On You, Afternoon Swim and Pacific Chill alike; AED 1,820 for Ombre Nomade; AED 7,800 for Pur Oud. We re-checked all ten this week and nothing has moved since August. Converted, that is roughly OMR 150 for a classic bottle, OMR 190 for Ombre Nomade and OMR 817 for Pur Oud, before the trip to buy them. The bottles that appear on Omani classifieds and marketplaces are resale, sometimes cheaper, with no boutique guarantee, and we do not quote them.
Our ten run from OMR 2.500 for Afternoon Swim to OMR 21.000 for 100 ml of Imagination, with the 200 ml Imagination at OMR 39.000, and all of them are gathered in the Louis Vuitton inspired collection. At those prices a 30 ml of Ombre Nomade A costs about a fiftieth of the original 100 ml, which is the sensible way to find out whether oud and raspberry is your thing.
The Louis Vuitton fragrances you will not find here
The house has released more than thirty since 2016 and we interpret ten. We carry nothing for L'Immensite or Meteore, the two other men's fragrances with real demand; nothing for Attrape-Reves, Coeur Battant or Les Sables Roses on the women's side; nothing for Nuit de Feu, the other Gulf oud at the Ombre Nomade price; and none of the other colognes, On the Beach, Sun Song, Cactus Garden or City of Stars. If one of those is what you came for, Dubai is still the answer. For other houses on the same store, our guides to the best Dior perfumes and the best Tom Ford and Chanel perfumes in Oman follow the same rules as this one.
How to choose between them
For the Gulf oud, Ombre Nomade A, and Pur Oud if you want it rawer. For the man who wants the famous one, Imagination; for the man who wants the quiet one, Orage; for oud with sweetness, Nuovo Mondo. For summer, Afternoon Swim first and Pacific Chill if plain citrus bores you. For women, Rose des Vents by day, Spell On You by night and Matierre Noire when you want to be noticed.
On size, 30 ml first on Pur Oud, Ombre Nomade A and Nuovo Mondo, because oud and cocoa divide people; 100 ml on Imagination and Afternoon Swim if you know the originals, since they are the two people run out of. If you are buying a gift and know nothing of the person's taste, Imagination for a man and Rose des Vents for a woman are the two that do not miss, because they are the two the house itself leads with.
A word on weather, because Muscat is not Paris. Ombre Nomade A, Pur Oud, Nuovo Mondo and Matierre Noire all grow louder in heat, so two sprays from May to September and four in winter. Afternoon Swim and Pacific Chill were built for the heat and can be reapplied in the afternoon. Imagination, Orage, Rose des Vents and Spell On You sit between, fine by day in winter and by evening in summer. These are working rules from each fragrance's character, not longevity figures measured in hours.
