Best Chanel Perfumes in Oman

Article Summary: Chanel publishes no note pyramid for any of its fragrances, has no online store in Oman, and every top, heart and base list you have read for Bleu de Chanel or Coco Mademoiselle comes from an aggregator, not the house. The four below are what MOJ carries in Oman as interpretations of the house, from Bleu de Chanel to Coromandel, with the perfumer behind each as far as it can be verified, what can truthfully be said about original prices in the Sultanate, and MOJ versions from OMR 2.900.

  • Chanel is one of the few houses still owned by a single family, the Wertheimers, and has had one in-house perfumer at a time since 1921, changed only four times.
  • The house describes its fragrances in prose: Bleu de Chanel is aromatic woody with cedar and sandalwood, Coco Mademoiselle is ambery with orange, jasmine, rose, patchouli and vetiver, and nothing more.
  • Chanel's only boutique in Oman opened at Mall of Oman in August 2023, and there is no official price list in rials.
  • Coromandel from Les Exclusifs is the most expensive of the four as an original and the cheapest of the four at MOJ.
  • MOJ's four versions in Oman run from OMR 2.900 to 7.000, all available in all three sizes.

Who makes Chanel perfume, and who composes it

Chanel fragrance is neither a licence nor part of a listed group. Parfums Chanel was founded in 1924 as a partnership between Gabrielle Chanel and the Wertheimer family, and the whole house today, couture and fragrance, is privately owned by the brothers Alain and Gerard Wertheimer. That separates Chanel from Dior, owned by LVMH, and from Yves Saint Laurent, whose fragrances L'Oreal makes under licence. It also explains some of the house's behaviour: no seasonal discounts, no wide distribution and no published sales figures, so anything said about its best-selling perfume is an estimate rather than a number.

Composition follows a tradition no other major house has: one in-house perfumer with the title of perfumer creator, and only four men have held the post in a century. Ernest Beaux from 1921 to 1952, who made Chanel N°5. Then Henri Robert until 1978. Then Jacques Polge from 1978 to 2015, credited with Coco Mademoiselle, Bleu de Chanel, Allure Homme Sport, Chance and Coromandel, which means all four fragrances in this article date from his tenure. Then his son Olivier Polge since 2015, after the succession was announced in 2013, who has the newer editions of every line. Alongside them since 2005 is Christopher Sheldrake as director of research and development, who is credited as co-author of some Les Exclusifs fragrances depending on the source.

The woman herself, Gabrielle Chanel, was born in 1883 and died in 1971, and none of the four below is from her era. The oldest, Coco Mademoiselle, dates from 2001, thirty years after her death, even though its name refers to her as a young woman.

Chanel publishes no note pyramids

This is the thing missing from most of what is written about Chanel perfume. The house's pages, in the UAE, France or the United States, describe each fragrance in a paragraph of prose naming its family and a few materials, and publish no top, heart and base list for any of them. Of Bleu de Chanel Eau de Parfum the house says it is aromatic woody with ambery and musky notes, with ambery cedar and New Caledonian sandalwood. Of Allure Homme Sport it says fresh and woody, with Italian mandarin, cedar, tonka bean and white musk. Of Coco Mademoiselle it says ambery, with fresh orange up front, a transparent heart of jasmine and rose and a trail of patchouli and vetiver. Of Coromandel it says an intense amber centred on patchouli, vanilla and benzoin. That is all the house says.

So every three-tier pyramid you see for a Chanel fragrance, including the ones being compared below, comes from aggregator sites that wrote it from smelling and inference, not from the house. We show the pyramids of our own versions because they are ours and we know what is in them, we quote the house's description of the original as the house wrote it, and we do not attribute to Chanel a list it never published.

A word on Les Exclusifs, because one of the four belongs to it. The house launched the collection in 2007 with ten fragrances in 200 ml bottles at around two hundred dollars, as the niche tier it sells in its own boutiques and on its site rather than in department stores, and Coromandel was among the first ten. It is the tier where the price gap between Chanel and us is widest today.

The four, and MOJ's versions of them

1. De Blue

Bleu de Chanel is the most searched Chanel fragrance in Oman by a clear margin, and it comes in three main concentrations plus a fourth edition. The original eau de toilette from 2010 by Jacques Polge, then the eau de parfum in 2014, then the parfum in 2018 by Olivier Polge, then L'Exclusif in September 2025, also Olivier Polge. The house says a warm sandalwood signature shapes every edition of the line. Our De Blue is built on the reading of the first eau de toilette: citrus, mint and pink pepper up top, ginger and nutmeg in the heart, and a dry base of incense, vetiver, cedar, sandalwood and labdanum. All three sizes are available.

2. Mademoiselle

Coco Chanel is the second most searched Chanel term in Oman, and most people typing it mean Coco Mademoiselle rather than the original Coco from 1984. Coco Mademoiselle Eau de Parfum dates from 2001 and is by Jacques Polge, and the house describes it as ambery: orange up front, jasmine and rose in the heart, patchouli and vetiver in the trail. The line has later editions, Intense in 2018, L'Eau Privee in August 2020 and Crush Absolu in August 2026 by Olivier Polge, none of which is what the searcher usually means. Our Mademoiselle is built on the 2001 eau de parfum, and our product page lists only three notes, sparkling orange, rose and warm patchouli, which is the spine of the original as the house itself describes it. All three sizes are available.

3. Allure Sport

Allure Homme Sport is the summer fragrance on this list and the oldest of the men's scents here. The house launched the eau de toilette in 2004 by Jacques Polge and describes it as fresh and woody: Italian mandarin ahead of cedar, then almondy tonka bean and white musk in the trail. Then came a Cologne in 2007, Eau Extreme in 2012 and Superleggera in July 2024 by Olivier Polge, the lightest in the line. Our Allure Sport is built on the 2004 eau de toilette, with sea notes and aldehydes up top that the house does not name but that are part of how everyone who has smelled it reads the scent. All three sizes are available.

4. Coromandel

Coromandel is the only Les Exclusifs fragrance here, named after the lacquered Chinese screens Gabrielle Chanel collected in her apartment. It launched as an eau de toilette in 2007 among the collection's first ten, was reissued as an eau de parfum in 2016, and an extrait by Olivier Polge followed later. On the original's author the sources differ: some credit Jacques Polge alone, others Jacques Polge with Christopher Sheldrake, and we print both. The house describes it as an intense amber centred on patchouli, vanilla and benzoin. Our Coromandel builds on that with bitter orange and neroli up top, iris, jasmine and rose around the patchouli in the heart, and white chocolate and frankincense with the benzoin and vanilla in the base. It is the cheapest of the four at MOJ and the most expensive at the house, and all three sizes are available.

What the original costs in Oman

The honest answer: there is no official figure. Chanel runs no online store for the Sultanate, has one boutique it operates itself on level three of Mall of Oman, opened on 23 August 2023, and publishes no price list in rials. Ounass Oman does not carry the house's fragrances. What shows up in search results for the price of Bleu de Chanel in Oman is independent shops and online marketplaces that claim no authorisation from the house, with prices roughly a fifth to a quarter below official, so we do not quote their figures and cannot vouch for what is in their bottles.

The nearest reference is the house's official UAE pricing, because Gulf buyers compare across the border: Bleu de Chanel Eau de Toilette AED 595 for 100 ml, the Eau de Parfum AED 685, the Parfum AED 815 and L'Exclusif AED 1,160. Allure Homme Sport Eau de Toilette AED 595 for 100 ml and Superleggera AED 705. Coco Mademoiselle Eau de Parfum AED 580 for 50 ml and AED 795 for 100 ml, and Intense AED 845. Coromandel AED 1,140 for 75 ml and AED 2,015 for 200 ml. Converted roughly, that is OMR 60 to 210 a bottle. Our versions run from OMR 2.900 to 7.000, and all of them are in the Chanel collection.

The house's fragrances you will not find here

Chanel N°5 is the biggest absence, Ernest Beaux's fragrance of 1921 that Jacques Polge reinterpreted as an eau de parfum in 1986, and we carry no version of it. Nor do we carry Chance from 2002, which Oman searchers want more than N°5 itself, nor Coco Noir, nor the original Coco, nor Bleu de Chanel Parfum or L'Exclusif, nor Allure Homme Sport Eau Extreme, nor Coco Mademoiselle Intense. If one of those is what you came for, the house's boutique at Mall of Oman is the only place we can send you with confidence. For a comparison with two other houses on the same store, we have separate guides to the best Dior perfumes and the best Tom Ford perfumes in Oman.

How to choose between them

For the man who wants the most famous one, De Blue; for summer days and sport, Allure Sport. For the woman who wants the safe answer, Mademoiselle. For a fragrance a man and a woman can share at occasions with weight, weddings, Eid and formal dinners, Coromandel, the only one of the four that does not smell like what everyone else is wearing.

On size, take the 30 ml first on Coromandel, because patchouli and incense are a heavy character and not for every taste, and the 100 ml on De Blue and Mademoiselle if you know the original, since it is the better value by a clear margin. If you are buying a gift and do not know the person's taste, De Blue for a man and Mademoiselle for a woman are the two choices that do not miss in Oman, because Bleu de Chanel and Coco Chanel are the most searched terms for the house in the Sultanate by a wide margin over everything else.

A word on weather, because Oman is not Paris. Coromandel and De Blue grow louder in heat because of the patchouli, incense and labdanum, so two sprays are enough from May to September and four in winter. Allure Sport was built for summer in the first place; its citrus and marine construction does not turn heavy in humidity. Mademoiselle sits between the two, fine for daytime in winter and evenings in summer. These are not longevity figures measured in hours, just a working rule from each fragrance's character and nothing more.
