Best Parfums de Marly Perfumes in Oman
Article Summary: Parfums de Marly is a Paris house founded in 2009 by Julien Sprecher that sells no fragrance in Oman from a shop of its own; the whole range reaches Muscat through Ounass Oman at OMR 101.200 to 185.000 a bottle. MOJ interprets five of them: Layton, the apple and vanilla amber that made the house's name with men; Delina, the lychee and rose that did the same with women; Haltane, the saffron oud; Althair, the vanilla; and Valaya, the white musk. Below: who composed each where two or more sources agree, the house's own notes, Ounass Oman prices in rials and MOJ versions from OMR 3.200.

Who makes Parfums de Marly
A Paris company that is younger than most of its customers think. Julien Sprecher founded Parfums de Marly in 2009 and named it after the Chateau de Marly, the retreat Louis XV kept outside Paris, where the house says the court scented its gloves, fans and fountains and bred horses; the logo is one of the Marly horses sculpted by Guillaume Coustou, and most of the fragrances are named after horses or breeds. That is the brand's own origin story, and it explains the gilded bottles. The company belongs to the Sprecher Berrier group, which also owns Initio, and in June 2023 the private equity firm Advent International bought a majority stake, with Sprecher staying on as executive chairman and creative director. It is a French house, then, but no longer an independent one.
On perfumers, the house is quieter than Guerlain and louder than Gucci. It does not name its composers on product pages, so we rely on trade press and databases that agree with one another: Hamid Merati-Kashani for Layton and, with Ilias Ermenidis, for Althair; Quentin Bisch of Givaudan for Delina. For Valaya one trade outlet names Bisch and nobody else confirms it, so we say credited rather than composed. For Haltane we found no name at all, and we would rather print nothing than guess. The house does publish its notes, in three tiers, and we quote those before anyone else's.
Is there a Parfums de Marly store in Oman?
No. The brand's own store locator lists Middle East boutiques in Downtown Dubai and at The Avenues in Kuwait but nothing in Oman; we checked the Oman Avenues Mall perfume directory and found no counter either. What exists is online distribution: Ounass Oman carries the full range at product-page prices in rials, delivered in two to four working days, free above OMR 100, which every bottle below clears. Sephora's Oman site lists the brand too, though we quote Ounass alone. Independent perfume shops in Muscat sell the same bottles and say nothing about authorisation; we leave their prices out.
Why these five
Because they are the five the house is known for in the Gulf and the five MOJ makes. Layton is the one that explains the whole brand to men, an apple and lavender opening over vanilla and guaiac wood that behaves like a sweeter, better dressed Aventus. Delina is its mirror for women, lychee and rhubarb over Turkish rose and musk, and the house's trade press calls it the hero of the feminine side. Haltane is the oud, built for exactly this market, with saffron and praline over agarwood. Althair is the vanilla, launched in 2023 and already the brand's answer to every gourmand on the shelf. Valaya is the fresh one, a white musk for women who find Delina too sweet. Searches for the brand in Oman are modest, about 260 a month in English, which is why we have written one guide rather than five.
The five, with the MOJ versions
1. Layton
The men's one, whatever the label says. Layton is an eau de parfum launched in 2016, composed by Hamid Merati-Kashani, and the brand files it under men while Ounass and the databases list it unisex; wear it as you like. The house notes are apple, bergamot and cardamom up top, lavender, violet and geranium in the heart, patchouli, vanilla, guaiac wood and praline in the base; third-party pyramids swap jasmine for some of the lavender and add mandarin and sandalwood. What you smell is a crisp green apple that turns, inside half an hour, into a warm vanilla and wood that reads expensive in a way few sweet masculines manage. Ounass Oman lists the 125 ml at OMR 156.200. Our Layton follows the third-party pyramid, apple, bergamot, lavender and mandarin, then geranium, jasmine, violet and nutmeg, then vanilla, sandalwood, guaiac and patchouli, sold as unisex, in all three sizes.
Top: Apple, Bergamot, Lavender, Mandarin
Heart: Geranium, Jasmine, Violet, Nutmeg
Base: Vanilla, Sandalwood, Guaiac Wood, Patchouli
2. Delina
The women's one. Delina is an eau de parfum launched in February 2017, composed by Quentin Bisch at Givaudan, and it is the fragrance trade writers name first when they explain how the house grew; we will call it the hero of the women's side and leave sales out of it. The house notes are bergamot, lychee and rhubarb up top, Damascena rose and nutmeg in the heart, cashmeran, musks and vetiver in the base. Reviewers add peony, lily of the valley and vanilla, which is what makes it read sweeter than the house list suggests. It is a pink rose, juicy rather than jammy, and it has a sillage that fills a lift. Ounass Oman lists the 75 ml at OMR 156.200 and the 30 ml at OMR 101.200. Our Delina follows the fuller pyramid, rhubarb, lychee, bergamot and nutmeg, then Turkish rose, peony and lily of the valley, then vanilla, cashmere wood, white musk and vetiver, in all three sizes.
Top: Rhubarb, Litchi, Bergamot, Nutmeg
Heart: Turkish Rose, Peony, Lily of the Valley
Base: Vanilla, Cashmere Wood, White Musk, Vetiver
3. Haltane
The oud. Haltane is a men's eau de parfum that appeared in late 2021 as a Harrods exclusive and went on general sale in spring 2022, which is why some listings say 2021 and others 2022; both are right. No reliable source names its perfumer, so we do not. The house notes are bergamot and pink peppercorn up top, saffron, praline, lavender and clary sage in the heart, oud, patchouli, vetiver and leather in the base; third-party pyramids put the lavender and clary sage first and the saffron and praline in the middle, and agree on the oud. It is the brand's Gulf fragrance, a sweet, smoky, slightly burnt oud that does not smell medicinal, and it is also the most expensive of the five: Ounass Oman lists the 125 ml at OMR 185.000. Our Haltane takes a different route to the same room, cinnamon, bergamot and cardamom, then oud, patchouli and rose, then vanilla, amber, tonka and benzoin, so it is warmer and less green than the original; it is men's, in all three sizes.
Top: Cinnamon, Bergamot, Cardamom
Heart: Oud, Patchouli, Rose
Base: Vanilla, Amber, Tonka Bean, Benzoin
4. Althayr
The vanilla. Althair is an eau de parfum launched in 2023, composed by Hamid Merati-Kashani with Ilias Ermenidis, sold by the house without a gender and as unisex by most retailers, though one database files it under men. The house notes are bergamot, mandarin and elemi up top, orange blossom, cinnamon and cardamom in the heart, bourbon vanilla, guaiac wood and praline in the base. It is a vanilla with the sugar taken down and the spice turned up, closer to a cinnamon bun than to a dessert, and it is the one of the five most often worn by both halves of a couple. Ounass Oman lists the 125 ml at OMR 156.200. Our Althayr, spelled with a y on this store, reads it as bergamot, almond and cinnamon, then vanilla, tonka and benzoin, then cashmere wood, sandalwood, amber and musk, which trades the orange blossom for almond and comes out slightly nuttier; unisex, in all three sizes, and the cheapest of the five at OMR 3.200 for 30 ml.
Top: Bergamot, Almond, Cinnamon
Heart: Vanilla, Tonka Bean, Benzoin
Base: Cashmere Wood, Sandalwood, Amber, Musk
5. Valaya
The fresh one. Valaya is a women's eau de parfum announced in January 2023, credited by one trade outlet to Quentin Bisch, which the house neither confirms nor denies on its pages. The house notes are bergamot, mandarin and white peach up top, orange blossom and white flowers in the heart, white musks, akigalawood, vanilla and vetiver in the base; third-party pyramids add a vetiver in the heart and an ambery wood in the base. It is a clean, slightly soapy white musk with a peach on top, the kind of scent a woman wears to work in May, and it is the brand's quiet alternative to Delina. Ounass Oman lists the 75 ml at OMR 156.200 and the 30 ml at OMR 101.200. Our Valaya reads it with aldehydes, bergamot and pear up top, orange blossom, jasmine and ylang in the heart, white musk, vanilla, amber and cedar underneath, for women. The 50 ml and 100 ml are available; the 30 ml is not at the moment, so the floor on this one is OMR 4.800.
Top: Aldehydes, Bergamot, Pear
Heart: Orange Blossom, Jasmine, Ylang Ylang
Base: White Musk, Vanilla, Amber, Cedar
What the originals cost in Oman
One price for most of the range and a premium for the oud. On Ounass Oman, Layton and Althair are OMR 156.200 for 125 ml, Delina and Valaya are OMR 156.200 for 75 ml with a 30 ml at OMR 101.200, and Haltane is OMR 185.000 for 125 ml. Per millilitre that is about OMR 1.250 for Layton and Althair, 1.480 for Haltane and 2.080 for the two women's bottles, because the women's sizes are smaller at the same price. Delivery is two to four working days and free above OMR 100.
Against that, our 50 ml bottles are OMR 4.300 to 4.800, between 0.086 and 0.096 a millilitre: Layton about a thirteenth of the original per ml, Althayr about a fifteenth, Haltane about a fifteenth, Delina and Valaya about a twentieth. All five sit in the designer inspired perfumes collection, the three sweet ones also in vanilla perfumes, and Delina and Valaya in perfumes for women.
The Parfums de Marly perfumes you will not find here
Pegasus, Herod, Carlisle, Percival, Greenley, Sedley, Oriana, Cassili and the Delina flankers, Exclusif, La Rosee and Delina Sur l'Herbe, have no reading on this store, and neither does Kalan or Galloway. If one of those is what you came for, Ounass Oman carries them. For other niche houses on this store, our guide to the best Amouage perfumes and the best Tom Ford perfumes follow the same rules this one does.
How to choose between them
Start with the season, because four of the five are winter scents here. Layton and Althayr are October to March, two sprays in the office and four at night; Haltane is the same months and nights only, because saffron oud in a Muscat afternoon is an announcement. Delina is a day scent from November to April and an evening scent the rest of the year. Valaya is the one you wear in June, because white musk and peach survive heat where vanilla and oud turn loud. If you want one bottle for a man, Layton; for a woman, Delina if she likes rose and Valaya if she does not; for a couple, Althayr. On size, 50 ml on Layton and Delina, which get used daily; 30 ml first on Haltane, because oud is a commitment; and on Valaya the 50 ml is the smallest you can buy today. These are rules from character, not longevity figures in hours.
