Prada, Puig and L'Oreal: who makes the perfume
Prada started in 1913 as a leather goods shop in Milan's Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, opened by Mario Prada; his granddaughter Miuccia took over in 1978 and has run the house with her husband Patrizio Bertelli since, with the Belgian designer Raf Simons as co-creative director from 2020. The group's revenue was 5.7 billion euros in 2025, and in December 2025 it completed the purchase of Versace for 1.25 billion euros. None of that is perfume. The perfume is licensed, and the licence has changed hands once: Puig of Barcelona, which also makes Rabanne and Carolina Herrera, held it from 2003 and launched the first wide release, Prada Eau de Parfum, in 2004, then gave Oman Infusion d'Iris in 2007, Candy in 2011 and Luna Rossa in 2012, all by Daniela Andrier. Prada chose not to renew in 2018, L'Oreal announced it had won the licence in December 2019 and took over in 2021. Paradoxe, launched in August 2022, was the first fragrance of the L'Oreal era. In its 2025 results L'Oreal named Paradoxe a global blockbuster and said it holds the top three women's fragrances in Europe with Libre, La Vie Est Belle and Paradoxe. Those are the company's figures, not an audited ranking, and no sales number for the bottle has ever been published.

1. P Paradox: the triangle
Paradoxe is an eau de parfum by three Givaudan perfumers, Nadege Le Garlantezec, Shyamala Maisondieu and Antoine Maisondieu, who worked with Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons on the brief: a neroli bud extraction over Tunisian orange blossom and sambac jasmine, on Ambrofix, bourbon vanilla, benzoin and the musk Serenolide, with bergamot, mandarin and pear on top. The bottle is a triangle, Prada's logo shape, in 30, 50 and 90 ml, refillable from a 100 ml flask. Emma Watson was the face and also directed the campaign film, released worldwide on August 22, 2022. In June 2023 the Fragrance Foundation in New York named it Women's Prestige Fragrance of the Year and gave it the Women's Prestige Consumer Choice award, and the Fragrance Foundation UK named it Best New Fragrance the same year. Oman searches "paradoxe" by name only about 20 times a month; the brand term carries the rest. Prada has no fragrance counter in Oman that we could verify, Sephora Oman lists Paradoxe but its rial price did not load, and Ounass Oman could not be read, so the prices are Faces in the UAE: AED 365 for 30 ml, 570 for 50 ml and 770 for 90 ml, all available on October 26.

2. Paradox Intense: the darker triangle
Paradoxe Intense was announced on August 1, 2023, an eau de parfum by the same three perfumers in a deeper pink triangle. Prada describes it as a floral amber with a woody inflexion: bergamot, pear and neroli on top, a jasmine superinfusion with neroli and a new moss accord in the heart, and bourbon vanilla, Ambrofix and Serenolide underneath, with the amber and vanilla turned up against the original. It is not a jasmine absolute, whatever some listings say; Prada's word is superinfusion. Faces lists it at AED 600 for 50 ml and 810 for 90 ml, both available on October 26, about 30 dirhams above the original at each size.
Our Paradox Intense opens on pear, bergamot and pink pepper, turns to jasmine sambac, tuberose and orange blossom in the heart and finishes on vanilla, amber, patchouli and white musk. The tuberose is ours, not Prada's, and it is why the reading is louder than the original. Three sizes, OMR 2.500, 3.300 and 5.500, all available on October 26, which makes the Intense the cheaper of the two MOJ readings: the price follows the materials in our formula, not the price of the original. The Paradoxe line since 2022
L'Oreal has added a Paradoxe a year. Virtual Flower, June 2024, built its jasmine accord with the help of an AI model and kept Emma Watson as its face. Radical Essence, 2025, is a parfum concentration with salted pistachio over neroli and sandalwood, by the same trio. Sweet Chemistry, July 2026, is an eau de parfum of blackcurrant, orange blossom absolute and a neroli milk accord, and it brought a new face: Zendaya, named Prada Beauty's global ambassador that month, in a film by Barry Jenkins. Two 2026 bottles, Pulp Edition and Orchidea Edition, are printed limited editions that contain the 2022 Paradoxe, not new scents. There is no Paradoxe Eau de Toilette and no Paradoxe Extrait; Paradigme, launched in 2025, is the men's pillar, not a Paradoxe. MOJ reads only the first two, and we would rather say that than stretch the cards.
The Prada fragrances we do not make
Luna Rossa, the 2012 lavender and mint eau de toilette, and Luna Rossa Ocean from 2021, by Anne Flipo and Carlos Benaim, are the Prada men's scents Oman knows, and MOJ has no reading of either. Prada's own store locator lists boutiques in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Riyadh and none in Oman, and we found no fragrance counter under the brand's name in Muscat. Sephora Oman carries Paradoxe online and Ounass Oman stocks the brand but could not be read when we checked, so the prices above are Faces in the UAE.
