Carolina Herrera and Puig: the designer and the house
Carolina Herrera was born in Caracas in January 1939 and launched her label in New York in 1981, dressing first ladies and the city's old money in the kind of white shirt and ball skirt that became her signature. Puig, the Barcelona family group that also owns Rabanne and Jean Paul Gaultier, signed the fragrance licence in the late 1980s, launched the first scent in 1988 and bought the fashion house outright in 1995, which is why a Spanish company makes the perfume of a Venezuelan designer who lived in New York. Herrera stepped back from the runway in February 2018, when the American designer Wes Gordon became creative director, and has been the house's global ambassador since; she turned 87 in January 2026. Her husband, Reinaldo Herrera, died in March 2025.
The fragrances run on two pillars. 212, launched in 1997 by Alberto Morillas and named for Manhattan's area code, became a line of its own, with 212 VIP in 2010 and 212 VIP Men in 2011. Good Girl, launched in 2016 as a stiletto-shaped bottle with Karlie Kloss as its face, was Puig's biggest launch in fourteen years, and its male answer, Bad Boy, followed in 2019. In June 2025 the house added a third pillar, La Bomba, named for what Diana Vreeland called Herrera, and in July 2026 Puig said Carolina Herrera led the growth of its prestige brands in the first half of the year, with La Bomba and Good Girl doing the work. It launched in August 2019 as an eau de toilette by Quentin Bisch and Louise Turner of Givaudan, the pair who wrote Good Girl, in the midnight-blue lightning-bolt bottle that answers Good Girl's stiletto, with Ed Skrein as its face: black and white pepper and sage over cedar on cocoa, tonka and amberwood, a sweet spiced night scent. The line has grown into Bad Boy Cobalt in 2022, Cobalt Elixir in 2024 and a Bad Boy Elixir. Ounass Oman could not be read when we checked and Carolina Herrera has no counter in Oman, so the price is Faces in the UAE: AED 490 for 100 ml and 380 for 50 ml, both not available on October 24. It is the fifth most searched men's fragrance in the Sultanate, and its place among the ten is in our best perfumes for men in Oman list.
Our Bad Boy opens on bergamot, black pepper and white pepper, turns to sage, cedarwood and nutmeg in the heart and finishes on cocoa, tonka bean and amberwood. Three sizes, OMR 3.800, 4.800 and 8.600, all available on October 24. Autumn and winter evenings, two sprays indoors; it is the most expensive MOJ reading of the three because the materials are.

2. VIP Men: the New York party
212 VIP Men launched in September 2011 as an eau de toilette, the men's edition of the 212 VIP line Puig had opened the year before, sold under the line "Don't just go to the party, be the party" and built on the idea of a New York nightclub: caviar lime, passion fruit, ginger and black pepper over a vodka and gin accord with frozen mint, on leather, amber and king wood. Emilie Coppermann is credited on every source; the other names on the formula differ between them, so we name only her. Oman searches for it about 20 times a month, which makes it the sleeper of the three. Faces lists the 100 ml at AED 465, not available on October 24; the line has since added 212 VIP Black and its Elixir.
Our VIP Men opens on lime, frozen mint and passion fruit, heats up through black pepper, ginger and pineapple and settles on amber, tonka bean, musk and leather. 3. Good Girl Blush Elixir: the stiletto, concentrated
A word first on what this is and is not. Good Girl, the 2016 stiletto by Louise Turner, tuberose and jasmine over cocoa and tonka, is the women's fragrance Oman searches for most from this house, about 590 times a month, and MOJ does not make a reading of it. What we make is a reading of Good Girl Blush Elixir, the 2024 edition: a more concentrated eau de parfum of Good Girl Blush, the 2023 pink flanker, in a stiletto that fades from black to pink, with Karlie Kloss again as its face and Quentin Bisch and Louise Turner credited by the one source that names perfumers. Bergamot, bitter almond and mandarin over rose and ylang on vanilla, patchouli and tonka, the brand calls it the more intense interpretation of Blush. Faces lists Good Girl from AED 500 and Good Girl Blush from 545; it did not list the Blush Elixir on October 24, and we print no price for it.
Our Good Girl Blush Elixir opens on bergamot, orange blossom and pink pepper, fills the heart with tuberose, jasmine sambac and rose and settles on vanilla, cocoa, tonka bean and sandalwood, which is closer to the original Good Girl's tuberose than to the almond of the Blush line, and we say so.
